look, I have a history of being horrible to people through design

My speciality is "things that look easy but are really hard"

with a dash of "your legs are aching for a week afterwards" and the occasional "making people wait at cold bus stops next to a dual carriageway" - though the latter will not be making an appearance

I assume we're keeping the rule that whether successful or unsuccessful, the result of a battle challenge 'locks' a station. Is the contested station locked for all teams following a battle challenge or just the team who lost the challenge?
Some useful links for people going into this (both relatively speedy and usable on the move):
https://bustimes.org/ - live bus timetables including a large map showing the positions of all the buses (slight delays because bus tracking is inefficient, but still workable)
https://intertube.eta.st/ - live tube train positions(edited)
nah I'm from South London but I'd quite like to meet the competition and indulge in a bit of tactical social engineering to uncover any battle strategies
(wrt food, I'd recommend bringing a meal deal from elsewhere in London, because there's only M&S and Waitrose within 5mins walk of Oxford Circus and pricey)(edited)
((there is however a Pret just round the corner; I will likely be retreating there once I start you all off so I can fire up the laptop and start helpdesking))

I did actually consider trying to build a web app to track ownership of stations on the map, but discovered the official Tube map is not public domain so there's a not the large number of easily adaptable things as I expected
three general rules for the challenge
1) if you're not sure how much evidence to give, too much is better than too little
2) the helpdesk's decision is final
3) try not to break the Good Friday Agreement
when you get to Oxford Circus, you want Exit 1 by the abandoned newsagents, then it's a minute's walk to the left of the hoardings to Great Castle Street, it's very close to the station

you can be on a tube in under 2 minutes from that point if you need to and you're fast on escalators

That newsagent could have been abandoned in the 1960s by its general appearance, although it seems it did make it to 2012

Thought i start counting everyone on who plans to bring a power bank with them?
I am aiming to have at least one power bank for each team so just thought I'd make sure in case if noone in a team has one.

I know few of you have, and I just got one myself but thought I start counting.

2 of us in Team 1 (including me) have power banks(edited)
Bit of throwback Thursday. In case anyone doesn't know who you'd be meeting on Saturday and what he looks like, here it is. Just, in case the need to look out for.
just a heads up - it's Chinese New Year on Saturday so you might want to bear this in mind when in the Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square/Charing Cross/Embankment/Covent Garden area

Was gonna say, if you're not involved in that Superloop race idea he had I will throw hands

Can't let Roger take over all the bus videos!

In terms of items for challenges - and there will be some challenges that require items - there is a reason we haven't given you the list of challenges beforehand! They should all be relatively simple things to find in shops, and if you already happen to have such an item with you you are welcome to use it for the challenge if it speeds things up because frankly we can't police that.
In many cases it might be unusual for you to already have the item in question though so for the full experience I wouldn't specifically try and guess what's in my head before the challenge starts! We've tried to give you something immersive and part of the fun is headlessly running around trying to find supplies...
(There is one exception to the bringing along pre-bought things rule which I will be doing a spot check for and confiscating in case anyone happens to have it on the day before we all start just so the playing field is level, so expect that. It's a relatively inexpensive thing and I will give it back to people when the challenge is over if they have it; it has to do with the Oxford Circus challenge so obviously it would be unfair to hand any one team an advantage from the get go.)
Just to be clear can you reconfirm where we're meeting and what time, I have it written down but just to avoid me panicking even though I know I'm right in the morning

Thing is my regular shoes have started hurting me, so today I had to wear my backup shows which are a pair of adult Heely's with the hole plugged up, and so they have slightly raised heels
Thanks everyone for coming - it was an absolute delight to be your evil genius today
hope people feel like they have experienced a little of the Jet Lag magic
Thanks for organising! Definitely felt the jet leg magic, my body will probably keep feeling it for a while yet!
It was an amazing event, we had a really great day :).
